ENGLISH GRAMMAR 2º (June, 10th)
PRESENT PERFECT
In this unit (unit 7), we are going to learn how to
form and use the Present Perfect tense.
How do we form the Present Perfect? To form the Present Perfect in affirmative, put the verb HAVE / HAS (for
3rd person singular) followed by the past participle of the main
verb (regular verbs + ED and irregular verbs 3rd column of the
irregular verbs list)
For example : I HAVE EATEN ( yo he
comido) or SHE HAS ARRIVED ( ella ha llegado)
The verb ‘have / HAS’ functions as the auxiliary to
make the negative and interrogative form.
For example : I HAVEN’T EATEN or HAS SHE
ARRIVED?
When do we use the Present Perfect? We use it to speak about an action that started in the past, but it’s
still true in the present.
For example : WE HAVE STUDIED ENGLISH
FOR 10 YEARS ( we started in 2010 and we
keep on studying in 2020, the action is not finished)
