ENGLISH GRAMMAR 1º ESO (May, 7th)
COMPARATIVE FORM OF ADJECTIVES
-We use the
comparative form to compare things.
-In Spanish, we form
it in the same way for all the adjectives (más
alto que, más cómodo que)
-In English, we have
different ways to form the comparative depending on the number of syllables of
the adjective (we count them according to their pronounciation) we are working
with.
For
example, adjective with one syllable (short) and with two syllables ending in –Y
(happy), add –ER THAN (taller than) (happier than) to form the comparative.
Adjective
with three or more syllables(comfortable) and adjectives of two syllables
not ending in –y (boring), use MORE …THAN (more comfortable than)(more modern than).
