ENGLISH GRAMMAR 2º ESO (May, 20th)
CONDITIONAL SENTENCES
-Conditionals are a type of
subordinate sentences.
-Subordinate sentences have two parts:
1.-the
main clause.
2.-the
subordinate.
-In the conditionals, the subordinate clause is
introduced by IF and it tells us one
condition so that the other part of the sentence (the main clause) becomes
true.
-In English, we have different types of conditional
sentences, depending on the probability the main clause has to become real.
-Today, we are going to learn and work with the 1st type of conditional sentences, the one with the highest
probability of becoming true.
-The chart below, which you have to copy in your
notebook, exemplifies the formula you have to follow to form a first type
conditional sentence properly.
-As you can see, IF-clause
introduces the condition and it is always followed by present simple. The
other part of the sentence, the main clause, is always in future with ‘will’.
